Hari Raya Party 2003

Melayu UK celebrated Hari Raya in Walsall, West Midlands on Sunday 30th November 2003. Analysis of the feedback forms received showed that members overwhelmingly request that the association continue to host Hari Raya Party every year.

The President delivered a speech on the need for a new identity for the Malays in the UK. Members should proudly identify themselves as Melayu UK, a new ethnic group in the UK. The Malays in Sri Lanka and South Afrika have identified themselves as Sri Lankan Malays and South African Malays, and UK Malays, or Melayu UK, has in fact become a reality.
