Because of the importance of zakat, this service is open to all Muslims regardless of whether they are Melayu UK members or not.

  • Hari Raya Party

Eid ul-Fitr (a celebration to mark the end of the fasting month, Ramadan) and Eid ul-Adha are joyous times for Muslims. Melayu UK organises Eid parties on these occasions..

  • Perhimpunan Keluarga

We organise Perhimpunan Keluarga to enable members and their family to get together for a few days for socialising. Perhimpunan Keluarga is also packed with various activities such as archery, orienteering, tog-o-war, pioneering and BBQ. Children who have been to Perhimpunan Keluarga still have vivid memories of the enjoyment that they experienced during their childhood years.

Pay Your Zakat

Pay Your Zakat

You can pay your zakat through Melayu UK. Our zakat have been distributed to the poor and needy Muslims in compliance with Islamic shari'ah. The more you give through us, the more money the poor and needy will benefit. We have numerous requests for zakat money in the past to be distributed to the poor and needy. The situation has become worse in the current Covid-19 pandemic situation. The requests to feed the poor and needy who are unable to work or displaced because of conflicts, and getting no help from their governments has become more urgent.

The rate for zakat fitrah this year is £6 per person and you can pay more if you wish. You can also pay other forms of zakat e.g. zakat on savings, income etc at the rate of 2.5% of the zakatable amount. Any fidyah paid will also be distributed to the poor and needy in accordance to shari'ah.

Payment should be paid directly into our dedicated zakat account as below:

Sort code: 30-96-96

Account Number: 04329357

Account name: Melayu UK

Tanbih On the Niyya of the Fitra:

It is a necessary condition [shart] for the Zakat giver to make the intention of zakat in order for the Zakat to be valid (whether it is for the obligatory-but-sometime Zakat on money [Zakat al-Mal] or for the obligatory-and-always Zakat on Fitra in Shawwal).

The sigha [wording] of the niyya for the one paying for himself or herself is:

nawaytu an u'addiya zakAta l-fiTri 'an nafsI farDan li-Llahi ta'AlA

[I intend to carry out the Zakat of 'Id al-Fitr for myself as an obligation to God Most High]

The sigha of the niyya for the Wali paying as well as for his dependents* is:

nawaytu an u'addiya zakAta l-fiTri 'an nafsI wa-'iyAlI farDan li-Llahi ta'AlA

[I intend to carry out the Zakat of 'Id al-Fitr for myself and for my dependents as an obligation to God Most High]

*The immediate dependents include those whom the Wali is obliged to support [nafaqa]: his loving wife, his or her incapable parents, and his or her children (including adults who are incapacitated, mentally or physically, or who are still studying our religion somewhere), and so on. If the Wali intends to pay Zakat al-Fitra for other than his immediate dependents (such as one of his distant relatives, and so on), he must obtain the consent [idhn] from the respective persons, otherwise the Zakat paid on their behalf is not valid.

If you would like us to verify your zakat payment, please write an email to zakat @ melayu.org.uk stating the amount paid. Please allow a few days for us to reply as we are also busy with other commitments.
